Is infertility affecting your job?

Jul 26, 2021

This week, I spent a very hot day filming for Fertility Matters at Work as we are creating an exciting new project due to be launched later this summer.

Here are a few behind the scenes shots as we begin making progress in our work which is designed to transform awareness, understanding and support within workplaces about the challenges of undergoing fertility treatment.

I’ve joined forces with two incredible ladies Becky Kearns and Claire Ingle who have 30 years of experience working in HR. All three of us have been through fertility treatment to have our families and we know just how hard it can be to manage both fertility treatment and work, especially when you don’t feel comfortable disclosing this to your employer…

The worries about confidentiality,
A lack of policy and unknown entitlements,
Feelings of shame,
Countless triggers and inappropriate comments,
Wondering whether it will be taken seriously,
Fears of being overlooked for promotions,
The inability to plan,
The constant time off needed for appointments,
The need for flexibility,
The guilt of feeling like a burden,
The impact on concentration, focus and performance,
The relentless emotional and physical toll that it can take.

That’s why we’re determined to raise awareness to help create a more open, empathetic, flexible and supportive environment for those going through fertility treatment and loss in the workplace in the future.

If this is something that you want to stay up to date with and make sure your employer is aware of it, once we’re ready to share – do join our mailing list https://fertilitymattersatwork.com/contact/
