What a day! The first World Fertility Day, thanks to IVF Babble

There’s been even more awesome content shared online. I was on the World Service this morning in a special episode of The Real Story which you can hear

I’m sharing this episode today to hopefully encourage you to talk to someone about how you’re feeling, especially if it’s been getting you down. If you don’t know who to talk to, have a look at the #TTC community on Instagram or if you don’t know where to start, give me a follow and you’ll find people from there. I’m @fertilitypoddy

In this episode, I spoke to Laura-Jane McRae who is a BBC Producer currently making a documentary about infertility called ‘Making Babies’. Laura talks about how infertility is rarely a topic of conversation around the watercooler. Well-meaning attempts at an advice or personal connection – like ‘You should try holding a newborn baby’ or ‘My friend tried for years, then drank loads of wine on holiday and got pregnant naturally’ – often backfire.

As part of National Fertility Awareness Week, she decided to share her own experience. See Laura’s video here You can find out what Laura-Jane is hoping to achieve with her documentary and how you can get involved if you are indeed in Scotland, in our chat.

I also wanted to feature a little snippet from the fabulous Infertile Mafia podcast. If you’ve not heard about it, one of its hosts Kaela joins my podcast today, to tell you what she and her co-host Sarah chat about. I wanted to make sure you have plenty to listen to you see!

I’ve seen the podcast landscape transform since I started this one in 2014 and I want to make sure you know what else you can fill your earholes with. They are very witty and cool, so if you’re looking for more poddy content to add to your feed do be sure to listen to what they are doing. You can follow them on Insta here
